Nyota Scouting
We are an independent football scouting company dedicated to identifying emerging talent across East Africa.
We operate in one of football’s fastest developing and most under-scouted regions, where ambition, raw potential and opportunity come together to shape the next generation of players.
What We Aim to Build
Nyota Scouting is developing a long‑term scouting structure in East Africa. Our goal is to create a sustainable pipeline of emerging talent for clubs worldwide, while supporting grassroot communities, local academies, coaches and scouts.
We believe the future of football will be shaped by regions where potential is high and opportunities are growing. East Africa is one of those regions — and we are committed to being part of its football journey.
Our Approach
East Africa is a low‑data environment — which means real on-the-ground scouting matters. We rely on a combination of live match observation, video analysis and structured reporting to evaluate players accurately and consistently via our scouts and partner academies.
Our methodology includes:
- Live scouting during annual visits to East Africa
- Video scouting and remote analysis
- Consistent evaluation criteria and structured reporting
- Verification of player data in low‑information environments
- A continuously updated database of youth players across the region
- Contextual assessment of development potential (physical, tactical, environmental)
This approach allows us to identify talent early, track development over time and provide clubs with trustworthy insight.
Our Network
Nyota Scouting has built strong relationships across academy and grassroots football in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Through our network of coaches, scouts, tournament organisers and football communities, we gain access to emerging players, reliable information and footage that is not publicly available.
This network is the foundation of our scouting work — and the reason we can identify talent before the market does.
Our Founders
Founded by Anders Bang Nielsen (Denmark) and Espen Tidemann (Norway), Nyota Scouting combines European coaching experience with deep regional insight from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our work is built on long‑term relationships with academies, coaches, scouts and football communities — giving us access to reliable information and emerging talent that rarely appears on public platforms.
Our vision is to build a sustainable pathway that connects East African youth players with professional opportunities in Europe. Our mission is to become the leading specialists in East African youth scouting.
Both founders are certified through PFSA Talent Identification Level 2 and have completed UEFA coaching courses, ensuring a structured, professional and modern approach to youth scouting.
Anders Bang Nielsen – Co‑Founder & Head of Scouting
Anders has coaching and scouting experience from the highest youth level in Denmark and Uganda. Over the years, Anders has identified and coached multiple players who progressed into youth national teams and professional environments in Denmark and abroad.
Espen Tidemann – Co‑Founder & Head of Scouting
Espen is a football coach and scout with more than 10 years of coaching experience, including responsibility for player identification and scouting. He has completed the UEFA B Licence as well as the PFSA Talent Identification Levels 1 and 2. His background in coaching and talent identification gives him a strong understanding of what to look for when identifying and developing emerging football talent across East Africa.
